What's Your Presence on the Internet?

How well known are you on the internet? You belong to groups, don't you? Facebook, Twitter, maybe some groups in Goodreads or LinkdIn? But do you really know how well you are represented on the internet? Is there a free and easy way to find out?

Yes! There is a free and easy way to see how much of an impact you are making. That free way is:

KLOUT

What is Klout? Here's Wikipedia's definition:
Klout is a San Francisco-based company that provides social media analytics to measure a user's influence across his or her social network. The analysis is done on data taken from sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Google+, and measures the size of a person's network, the content created, and purports to measure how other people interact with that content.[3]

The key words here are social media analytics. The best part is that Klout is free. You can join using your twitter account or your facebook account.

What's your Klout score?  (The Klout Score is a number from 1 to 100). The Klout Score is a single number that represents the aggregation of multiple pieces of data about your social media activity. We compute the Klout Score by applying our score model to these signals. (from Klout)  http://klout.com/#/corp/klout_score

The more influential you are, the more people are drawn to you. And that's what you want, right? To be known. You can't sell your product these days without being known. This is a free way of tracking that.

What is the average Klout Score?  40.  What's mine? Right now it's 47, but I've set a goal to raise it higher. Did you know that during hiring interviews, some companies are now asking "what's your Klout Score?" Can you see why? Obviously, a dynamic person would have a higher score, making his or her presence well-known on the internet. Are you dynamic enough to succeed?

When you join Klout, you choose the media you participate in. If you participate regularly in these sites, your Klout score goes up. If you don't, your Klout score goes down. It's that simple.

Looking at my participation lately, it's easy for me to see where I need to make more of a presence.

This is an easy marketing strategy, folks. Nothing hard to it. Yet you see at a quick glance where you stand in the internet world and where you need to improve. Yes, succeeding today takes a lot of work, but it is necessary steps.

If you don't already belong to Klout, I suggest joining and keeping at least a weekly check on it to see where you need to improve.

If you do belong, connect with me and together, let's move ourselves to the top.

LHR my friends and remember to PAWS for Success.

Donna, you write about the most interesting things. I forgot all about Klout, I’ve not looked at it for ages. I’ve got a score of 44 so just about average. I hope they have a help page as I’m not really sure how to go about improving that score.

Barbara, thank you for your comment. To improve your score, you just visit your list of places and make comments more often, or join new sites and comment.
