Three Topics in One Post

Hello, all my friends.  In this post, I will cover 3 short topics.

Beautiful Blogger Award

I want to thank Lynna Davidson for giving me the Beautiful Blogger Award.  I am supposed to tell 7 random facts about me.  So here goes:

1.  I am a Star Trek fan since the very first show in the 60's.  I am a Trekker, and proud of it.  I've attended many conventions and met many of the actors.  I used to belong to a local star trek club.

2.  I once saw Tom Cruise in the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas, Nevada on a very slow morning as we were walking through the place.  No, I did not stop to talk with him or ask for his autograph, because I don't believe in doing that.

3.  I did meet Frankie Valley in person once.   Several of us skipped our high school afternoon classes for that.  I'll never forget that moment.

4.  I used to live near San Francisco in a city called Petaluma, across the Bay.  San Francisco to this day remains the most romantic city in my heart and mind.

5.  I've traveled across our US, but the place that I stand in awe of are the great Redwoods in Northern California.  Stately, bold, and aged, they are a most spiritual experience.

6.  I was a small child, but to this day, I remember watching Nikita Kruschev on our old black and white TVs.  Terrified me.

7.  I remember hearing on the school's loudspeaker about the assisination of JFK.  We were all sent home, and everyone watched his burial from their homes.

8.  I studied dance too.  Ballet mostly.  I loved trying for perfection in the poses and movements.

9.  I also danced Hawaiian and Polynesian dances for a short time.  I still like to listen to traditional Hawaiian music.

10. My favorite holiday has always been Christmas, because people are so cheerful and giving.

Now, I'm supposed to pick 7 bloggers, but since I've done so many awards lately, I'm going to do something different.  I am going to copy from my friend Joleene Naylor (sort of).

And that brings us to our next topic.

My Favorite Sites to Visit

Here are just a few of my favorite sites:

e-patterns central  This site is for craft lovers.  Talk about some fun crafts!

Michaels  Michaels is a craft store.  Here, you can get coupons and see their weekly ads.  But more fun is to go into the projects tab, where you can find patterns on most crafts.  I really love the craft videos too, especially during the holidays.  For instance, this video on making bracelets from water bottles:  http://www.michaels.com/Floral-Felt-Water-Bottle-Bracelet-featuring-Aleenes-Original-Tacky-Glue/HbBB1Vm3070,default,pg.html?fdid=videos-generalcrafts-aleenes

Disney Family Fun  This site has crafts and recipes for young and old.  Look at these simple 'Beneficial Bugs.'

Speaking of recipes, my absolute favorite recipe place is allrecipes.com

My next favorite is Kraft Food Recipes

Finally, everyone needs some fun places.  My two top favorites are next.
pogo.com  Just a bunch of simple games, such as cards, slot machines, word puzzles, word games, puzzles, carnival games.

Pinterest  I love this site.  Talk about addictive.  Here I am, if you wish to connect to me:
merridm

Which leads us to the 3rd topic, food:

3 Baked Noodles Recipes

Around Easter, my FB Italian group were all talking about the Baked Macaroni, traditionally served at this holiday.  Growing up, I couldn't wait for it to come out of the oven, but over the years I forgot about it.  So a few weeks ago, I downloaded 3 different recipes, 2 from allrecipes and one from Kraft and we tried them all out:
Allrecipes.com
Noodles with tomato sauce and 3 cheeses
Allrecipes.com
Noodles with cheddar cheese and sausage
Kraft Recipes
Baked macaroni and cheese

What was the verdict?  We liked them all the same, and all 3 were gone quickly.

May your days ahead be filled with creativity and peaceful contemplations.
Thank you again, Lynna, for the award.

LHR my friends, and PAWS for Success.

Congrats on your award, mom! You definitely deserved 'tis - for both you and your words are beautiful!

Also, while I loved all three noodle dishes, the tomato sauce and 3 cheese was by far my fav... I want more! Can we have more? Please, please, please? ;)

The recipes all look delicious! Hey, just wanted to say that I can't seem to link to your blog from the comments you post on my blog... I don't know how the new Google plus works, so maybe it's there and I just don't know where to look for it. ??
Then I remembered that you were one of Sharons Sunshine winners, so I came and found you via her blog. I truly have not been ignoring your comments for the past couple of weeks, just didn't know how to get to your blog to respond.

Angie, thank you for commenting. Yes, I think it's time for more baked noodles!
GardenofDaisies, thank you for your comment. I will see if I can link with you somewhere. Google is fantastic unless there's just one tiny little problem, then just try and solve it. Thank you for letting me know about this.

Congratulations on the award; it went to right person.
When were you in Monaco? We might have bumped into each other. MC's such a small place.
Those noodles with cheese looks good. I might try that myself.

Roger, thank you for your comment. I guess I better clarify that and will fix it right now. Sorry, it was the Monte Carlo in Vegas. I've never been to Monaco. I'm so jealous of all your travels.

Congratulations Donna! I loved your random facts - I'd especially like to visit the Redwoods sometime, it is wonderful that people had the foresight years ago to make sure they are protected. My mom used to make us macaroni and cheese when I was a child - I was a terrible eater and this was one of the few things I liked! I must try out these recipes myself - I'm sure my 'boys' would enjoy them.

Now I'm hungry! :D

Congrats on the award and I enjoyed the facts! My father was a trekkie, too, and so we grew up on it :) Have never been to a convention, though :(

Donna Yates said...

Joleene, thank you for your comment. Well, if you like para-normal, you'll like conventions. They are definitely not normal.

Sharon, thank you for your comment. I hope someday that you can see the redwoods in all their glory. I bet your boys would love mac and cheese.

Congratulations on your award, Donna! Well deserved. I found the fact you listed to be fascinating. Hoe cool that you have gotten to meet some of the actors from your favorite show. My dad loves Star Trek and I watched many episodes with him. I agree with you about the redwoods- when I stood below them I was in awe.

Those macaroni dishes look delicious!

Stephanie, thank you for your comments. I'm glad that you too got the chance to stand among the Redwoods.

Congratulations on your award, Donna! It couldn’t have been given to a nicer person. Thanks for sharing so many interesting links – I’m looking forward to visiting them all. It was fun finding out more about you. The macaroni and cheese looks scrumptious it’s only breakfast time, but I could eat some of that now!

Donna Yates said...

Barbara, thank you for your kind comments. I could live on mac and cheese, I think.

Donna after those three recipes I have to say you're the cheesiest. Just kidding. I went to kindergarten in Mountain View up there by Petaluma! What a small world.

Donna Yates said...

omg, The Desert Rocks, it is a small world. Such a beautiful area of California. Thank you for your comments, and I would certainly agree that I am the cheesiest! lol

Congrats on the award! Always so fun!

We have a lot of favorite places in common... I love Michael's - I don't get to go there as often as I'd like to, but I love it. I also love Family Fun website and Kraft recipes.

omg, OneMommy, we do have a lot in common. I could certainly shop Michaels every day. Thank you for your comment.

I love Pinterest as well.
Thanks so much for the great links. I'm checking out e-patterns now - I'm such a craft nut.

I love Frisco too. Such a great city! And I will always be Hawaiian at heart. Hubby and I listen to the music when we're lounging at the pool. :)

Donna Yates said...

lol, PK, I listen to the music when I'm crafting. Thank you for your comment.

I come from a family of Trekkers. My Mom & Dad passed it on to the children. It was a big outing for us the day a new Star Trek film was released. =

I also went to school in Arcata, CA and my backyard was full of Redwood Trees. Humboldt is home to the only Redwood Rainforest around. Very cool.

Donna Yates said...

Susan, thank you for your comment. How great is that - to come from a Trekker home. I love it! And there is nothing as amazing as those Redwoods.

How do I start a website with minimum or no advertsing for free?

Donna Yates said...

There are many free sites. Just search for free websites. I chose weebly because it's a very simple site to set up. Once it's set up. that's when you start working on advertising it and there's many ways to do that.
