Poem A Warriors Call

I think it's time to share another of my poems with me.  As usual, it's still being edited.

Our world has been plagued with wars since tribes and villages first began.  Sadly, this involves the loss of life to innocent civilians, soldiers, and Earth's living beings - trees, plants, terrains, etc.  The devastation during wars is a horrible plight.

Soldiers are called in to fight the enemies.  Many times, these soldiers are conscripted into service, with no choice.  But what about those who feel a calling to join the military?  Where they know it's their destiny?  Does that happen?  I believe it does.  You see, I spent 14 1/2years in the US Army.  Why?  Because I wanted to since I was 10 years old.  I think before we come down to Earth, that we choose our paths and the lessons we want to learn.  I think variety in all things are needed, that Yin/Yang must be balanced out so that the Circle of Life can continue to turn.  Does this mean I believe in war?  No.  War is hideous, but until our world learns to grow up, until cruelty and prejudices are erased, until dictators and hate disappear, there will always be war.  And there will always be those called to serve and those who desire to serve.

And so, within me grew this poem.  This poem is dedicated to all the men and women the world over, who serve or have served their country's call.  And it is dedicated to the families of these brave men and women.  Let us never forget them or forget their sacrifices.

A Warrior’s Call

A warrior’s call to duty
burns within his heart.
His deep yearning never leaves
‘til he’s done his part.

She yearned to protect others.
She grasped it from young.
A throbbing urge to defend,
relentlessly sung.

Stand in praise of these, the brave.
Understand their task.
Each destiny accepted,
before they were asked.

Earth requires many deeds,
so Heaven does too.
The dates and places thus set,
commitments fixed true.

Valiant heroes, thru all times,
blessed be their reward;
selflessly saving lives is
a trust from our Lord.

Let us honor soldiers bold.
Each warrior, do cheer.
Through service to their countries,
they battle far and near.

Shout out bravados loudly
as they head to war.
Pray for their safe return home,
back to their free shores.
May peace and love reign upon our Earth.  May we learn to get along with all.  Love, Honor, and Respect are the keys to get us there.

LHR my friends, LHR.

Lovely. I don't think it needs much editing at all.

That was beautiful, Donna. We owe them so much, yet they often see so unappreciated.
btw did you know your word verification is on? You may want it on, but if not it's easy (and helpful) to turn off. :)
