'A Little Twist' is several short stories written by one of my favorite authors, Roger Lawrence. The title of this book is true to every story, because every single story does have a little twist to them. Now, I like to guess endings, but I didn't guess one of these correctly, not one. And that, folks, is what I particularly love about 'A Little Twist.'
Mr. Lawrence has a wicked sense of humor that shines throughout these stories. You can't see it too clearly, but underneath the title, he has described his works as 'short but exceedingly weird tales.' And, trust me, they are. His style is reminiscent of my most favorite author of all time, Edgar Allan Poe. If you like Poe's short stories, you will love these. I must warn you, though. Just as many of Poe's works are horror, so are several of Mr. Lawrence's. Honestly, I had to skip these as I'm not much in the macabre, and although I read and reread Poe, I skip certain of his also.
I am truly amazed at the genius of Roger Lawrence's books. This is the 2nd of his that I've read, the first being 'Three Hoodies Save the World' - a YA genre. I have quickly become an ardent fan of Mr. Lawrence's works. His third book, 'Old Geezers' was just released yesterday on Amazon for 99cents, and I already purchased it, and cannot wait to read it.
To give you a better idea of Mr. Lawrence's writing, here is an excerpt from 'A Little Twist, from the short story titled 'A Question of Procedure':
Even the Eiffel Tower, less than two kilometres away would be hard to pick out through the yellow soup that passed for air in this moratlly wounded city. He couldn't have an office in New York, or even Geneva. No, of course not. Paris, they said. Show the world that the new President wasn't the xenophobic, homophobic redneck his predecessor had been. To hell with the world; he missed Wisconsin.
If you'd like to purchase 'A Little Twist,' or any of Roger Lawrence's works, you can do so on Amazon. You can also click on the above tab, Donna's Amazon One-Stop Shoppe, which will take you right to Kindle books.
I guarantee 'A Little Twist' contains stories you will never forget. I give this short story book 5 shaken martini's, with a little twist.

Great review Donna. I can see I am going to have to bow to the inevitable one day and get a Kindle ... although Roger has promised that the Three Hoodies is coming out in print soon for stubborn people like me who like to hold a proper book! I can't wait to read it and this short story collection looks good too.
Sharon, thank you for your comment. You will thoroughly enjoy his works. I do. As for a Kindle, I thought I would miss holding a book in my hands, but how I love carrying my entire library around in a flat tablet.
I love short stories and I really want to read one (or all) of Roger’s books, but I’m still living in the dark ages – no kindle! I enjoyed your review, Donna.
Ooh, I want to check out the YA one. Thanks, Donna!
Barbara, thank you for your comment. Did you know you can download the app for Kindle onto your computer? I also think you can get paperback copies. Roger would know for sure. You'll be amazed what a fun writer he is, and we know him personally. How cool is that?
Kelly, thank you for your comment. You would enjoy 'Three Hoodies', about 3 young men who end up on another planet, and true to Roger's style, there are surprises in this book too. I can't wait for the sequel.
