What's New in My World

Hello, all my friends. I have been rather delinquent in keeping my blog up-to-date for awhile. So many things have been going on, so I thought today I'd talk about where I've been and what I've been doing lately.

After having my blog template the same for years, it needed to be changed.  Blogspot's new templates allow for wider margins.  This was necessary for some of the sites I link to.  I send a huge thank you to my daughter-in-law, Ange, for saving the butterfly designs.  And you know, it's good sometimes to change things around.

As many of you know, I love my Kindle and e-books.  Well, let's face it.  I love Amazon.  The prices are great, you can find just about anything you want, and the service is excellent.  So, I became an Amazon Associate for Kindle.  You can see an ad on the home page, and there's a tab for my Amazone store.  It was pretty easy to set up.

I belong to so many sites!  Each has their merits and I have made friends in all of them, but my most favorite is The Blog Frog Community.  These members are the nicest, sweetest people I've met in a long time.  Last week I participated in an Instant Chat and met some really nice moms who truly care about their children and their lives.  What a wonderful time I had chatting with them about all sorts of things.  I've embedded my community (PAWS for Success) here on my blog.  You can see the tab for it above.  I normally only deal with writers and poets, but these women from The Blog Frog Communities have helped remind me of other important things in life, such as family.  So I'm shouting out a big thank you to them.  I'm pretty sure they know who they are.  You are welcome to join my community there or any other community on The Blog Frog.

If you haven't joined yet, or aren't active there, give it a try.  I've met some amazing writer/poet friends there, and it's another site full of the nicest people.  It's just a joy talking to people from all over the world.
The biggest part of my day these days is devoted to getting 'Always' ready to publish.  I yell out a huge thank you to both of my friends, Elizabeth and Roger for their help in editing it.  How's it coming along, you ask?  Just fine.  I've decided the first novel is the one that transforms us from writers to actual authors.  As I gain experience in my writing, I have vowed to not make the same mistakes in future novels.  We'll see if I've learned my lesson.  I'm also still editing poems for my first poetry book.  I will emphasize this again.  It is much harder for me to edit a poem than an entire book.

As many of you know, I have a variety of health issues.  About 4 weeks ago, I caught a cold virus.  Due to my Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, I was down in bed a good portion of 3 weeks.  So if I have been skipping some blogs or not leaving comments, I do apologize.  I am almost caught up with everything now.  After 3 weeks, I had over 400 emails to sift through and almost 300 blog posts.

And that pretty much tells you where I've been.

I want to talk for a moment now on 2 subjects that have caught my attention.  One is Derpy Hooves. In case you didn't know it, 'My Little Pony' is a huge hit with all the new characters and their loving personalities.  Well, Derpy is a lesser character.  One eye is bigger than the other, and she talks a little different from the other Ponies.
This is Derpy.  Well, the company started receiving emails from people (I suppose they had good intentions) wanting Derpy gone.  These people felt Derpy was an insult to people with disabilities.  On the other hand, parents of disabled children were writing in to say how much their children loved this character, that finally there was a character on TV like them.  I have to say, I have two family members with mental health issues and they loved this character for the same reason.
I want to know how far the do-gooders are going to go?  There is always someone who complains about things like this.  It's sad.  Pretty soon, we will live in a black and white world.
Do you know what's sadder?  Well, Derpy explains it pretty darn well.

The My Little Pony characters are just lovable and cute.  Here is a crocheted Rainbow Dash that I made for a family member:

I like the new look. Wider margins are nice. I use countdown widgets and some, mine included, are wide and need big margins.

thank you for your comment, Kelly. I am finding the wider margins are better.

Donna, I'm so sorry to hear you had such a tough time healthwise! I'm glad you're better now.

That pony you made is adorable! How gifted you are. I had never heard of Derpy Hooves. My goodness, you are absolutely right about there always being someone who complains about such things.

Ooh, what a lovely trio! So refreshing to see young ones do justice to O Sole Mio.

Scrollwork, thank you for your sweet comments. I appreciate your friendship.

I'm glad you're feeling better! Sorry to hear about your Immune Dysfunction Syndrome - certainly no fun at all!

I have never heard of Derpy, but I think she's cute. There's another cartoon that has a duck who has a lisp (I forget the name, I don't have kids, so I don't watch them, alas) but I read a story that many parents have complained and want her speech fixed. People are sometimes crazy!

Looking forward to your novel and btw, I gave you a kreative award -

Hello donna, sorry to hear you’ve been unwell, hope you are fully recovered now. I like the new blog design, clean and pretty. Lovely to listen to O Solo Mio while reading your post – what amazing voices!

Love the crocheted pony. How cute! I enthusiastically add my voice to those supporting Derpy Hooves, too. Children with challenges need characters with whom they can identify.

Joleene, thank you for your comment. I agree. Some people want a perfect world on TV, and life is not perfect. Thank you for the award. Sweet that you thought of me.
Barbara, thank you for your comment. Yes, it was time for a change. It is wonderful to see young people who can sing this beautifully, isn't it? I'm so impressed with them.
Elizabeth, thank you for your comment. The pony was fun and I have to say, turned out so cute! Yes, you are so right. Children with challenges need characters they can identify with.

Donna- So sorry to hear about your health problems. I am glad you are feeling better! I think the layout of your new blog is nice- it feels more open and it looks great. I am glad you were able to get some help setting it up and keeping the butterflies. I was wondering where your blog was over the past week! Boy- you have been busy!

Thanks for posting about My Little Pony. Very interesting! I love Il Volo (thanks for shouting out to our blog). :) Those guys are amazing. They look so happy and have such powerful voices. They have been visiting different Barnes and Nobles and other places on a promotional tour. Sadly, none seem to be near me!

Happy reading, writing, blogging, and good health!

Stephanie, thank you for your comment. I do like the new look, but them I'm partial to pink and lavender. Yes, I wish II Volo were coming near me too. I'd love to go to a concert. And you're welcome about your blog plug. It is one of my fav's. I have it on my blog list too.

Hi Donna - like you I'm busy catching up although at least in my case I haven't been ill. Glad to hear you are better now - sounds very debilitating.

The pony is cute. I'm sorry you've been under the weather and hope you're feeling better now. I wanted to listen to the Sole O Mio guys but it says it's blocked in my country. Aren't we in the same country? LOL

The Desert Rocks, thank you for your comment. The video - that's the 2nd time that google/youtube has blocked one after it's been out for awhile. They need to say this on youtube before we download videos. If you get the chance you should go to youtube and listen to them. They are amazing.
