Autumn Has Arrived

I love this time of year.  I get more creative during these next few months than any other time.  This is when I make homemade gifts for family, friends, and neighbors.

I am a creative person.  I've been accused of being a cutesie creator, and you know, that's ok.  I consider that a huge compliment since to me 'cutesie' = 'love'.  I love working on projects, and this time of the year is the best.  I spend most of my days writing stories and poems, my favorite creativity. My first novel ‘Always’ will be out before Christmas.  I’m hoping to have my poetry published also before Christmas. I can’t wait to share these with the world.  I write in Womens Genre with a hint of Spirituality/New Age.  My poems tend towards spirituality and Love.  And I insist on happy endings.  I am sharing one of my autumn poems at the end of this blog.

There is something about the quietness and beauty of these next few months that inspire me, whether it is writing a story/poem or crafting or baking.  Besides, it is the warmth of love that helps us all through the cold months.

Autumn and winter is when I  bake cookies.  There is something nurturing in warm cookies fresh out of the oven, plus that yummy aroma that fills the air.  My family flock to the kitchen when they smell those cookies in the oven.
The best part of being creative, is the love I get back for my gifts to others.

I want to thank Christina for this wonderful opportunity.  I so enjoy her blog hops.  Thank you, too, for dropping by.

The Last Leaf’s Abscission by DM Yates

Autumn shifts to winter.
The last leaf holds its ground.
Upon the barren tree,
Abides one leaf turned brown.

Cold and bitter winds blow.
Alone it fights the breeze.
Stubbornly it clings still.
On the ground, fallen leaves.

It can’t hold much longer,
the wind is stronger now.
It must release its hold
And floating down, will bow.

LHR, dear friends.  (love, honor, respect)

Book Review - 'Remember the Eyes'

I just finished reading a wonderful romantic story.  'Remember the Eyes' is a tale of lovers who have met in the past and are together again.

'Remember the Eyes' was written by Beth Muscat and is the first in a series.  The genre is young adult romance with sprinklings of paranormal.

This is a gentle story of young love.  The book is not for those who are looking for action packed adventure on every page, or for those looking for humor on every page.  No, this story is written in journalistic fashion from the eyes of the two main characters.  It is about their interactions with each other and is a wonderful read with no disappointments set in modern times.  Don't we all wish we had this kind of love?  True love, for sure.

The two main characters are Riley and Michael.  Riley has special talents that she keeps secret, but it is because of these gifts that she and Michael form an unbreakable relationship with each other.  She is reluctant to tell Michael what she can do for fear he will not accept her.  As he finds out, he does break up with her - until he realizes that love is stronger than a mate's attributes.  What are these gifts?  Sorry.  You have to read the book to discover them.  I won't give that stuff away.

Michael is a kind person with a huge heart.  He treats everyone respectfully and is especially thoughtful of Riley.  He has a band and his partners are fun-loving guys. They have come from England to Canada,to keep the band together while Michael attends college.  He doesn't understand why he feels he must move to Canada, but after meeting Riley he knows it is where he should be.

Their love is absolutely charming, and something anyone would wish for...except for the problems encountered by the antagonist, Brenda.  Talk about a thorn that can't be removed easily, and that's Brenda.  She has decided that she and Michael are meant for each other.  She tries to get people against Riley and does everything she can to separate the two lovers.  Nothing works until she finds the one method that almost succeeds.  Almost.  And I won't give that away either.

The book ends on a positive note, making the reader want to move on to the next book.  Beth wrote adeptly on young people's emotions.  Riley cries often, but so did I when I was young and in love.  It brought back so many of those early love feelings.

As I've said, this is not a book for readers who love reading horror, blood and guts, or must laugh on every page.  This is an easy calm read that moves with good rhythm from chapter to chapter; a book that takes time for you to get to know the main characters and adore them.  It would be a great read for a mother's book club.

The best part about this book?  So many young adult/teenage novels are depressing, sad, and violent.  It has become a big concern in society.  Let's give our young adults better reads about love and happiness, and Beth does that with 'Remember the Eyes.'

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to remember young love, and I certainly recommend it to all our young people.  It was genius on the part of Beth to write it in journalistic style so we see the story through the eyes of the hero and heroine.  Kudos to you, Beth, for a fine piece of writing.

Would I read this book again?  Nope.  Not right away, because I am heading for Book Two right now.  When I've finished the series, would I read it again?  You betcha!  It's charming, delightful, tender, endearing, sweet and it has twists here and there.  It's the perfect book to read when you get comfy and have that cup of hot drink and cookies - and snuggling with your partner reading it together.

'Remember the Eyes' can be purchased on Amazon.com, along with her other books:  'Nothing Without You' and 'Infinite'.  All are well priced.  Right now, 'Remember the Eyes' is only $1.19.  The Holidays are coming.  You know how difficult it is buying for teens/young adults.  Why not surprise them with this e-book in their stocking?

I give this book 5 hearts out of 5.

Look for other similar books from this author in the future.  I know I will.
