A Lesson from Jesus

In this Sunday's post, I have a poem I wrote a few years ago.  The story is true.  My family and I were at an amusement park.  It had been a very hot day and crowds of people were everywhere.  By the day's end, I had no more patience for those pushing, shoving, bumping into us, or trying to get ahead in the lines.  As I judged my earthly brothers and sisters, I wondered how Jesus would handle the situation.  In a flash, the answer came.

I hope you enjoy this Sunday tribute to our Brother.

Favorite Sayings

As a writer/poet I am always looking for quotes to inspire me towards my goals.  I've decided to put some of these here for everyone to see.  Some are from movies, some from poetry, some from great achievers of our day:

The first two are from that great philosopher, Yoda.
No, try not, do or do not.  ...there is no try.

Size matters not.  Look at me.  Judge me by my size do you?  Hmm?  Hmm.  And wel you should not.  For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is.  Life creates it, makes it now.  Its energy surrounds us and binds us.  Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.  You must feel the Force around you; here between you and me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes.  Even between the land the the ship.

Author unkown:  Sell a steak that sizzles.  New wine in a new bottle.

James Patterson:  This is the story I was born to tell.

John Keats:  The poetry of earth is never dead.

Joshua Ferris:  Work is why we're here and to waste an hour of any day, fretting or worring or procrastinating, is to release into the air the odor of death.

Edgar Allan Poe:  Hint everything.  Assert nothing.

There are so many others I could have posted here.  I'm sure they'll get posted sometime as I continue my Fridays Inspirational Thoughts.

If you have a quote that inspires you, please share it with us.

Abscission

The Alpha Dictionary will email the word of the day to your address if you sign up.  Since I find words fascinating, I of course receive the word of the day.  Quite a while ago (almost a year) the word of the day was 'abscission'.  One of its meanings is the separation of fruit, flowers, leaves from the plant in a natural way.  I was intrigued by this word, so I wrote The Last Leaf's Abscission.  I hope you enjoy it.

The Garden of Gethsemane

This time of year, I start thinking of the fast approach of the holidays.  I have felt for a long time that Christmas should be divided into 2 separate days:  a day of worship for Christians and those who accept Christ, and a second day for gift giving and celebrating a holiday.  There could no longer be cries of outrage from other groups.  I do not believe in using 'XMas' because I believe we are X'ing Jesus out of our lives.  It doesn't matter if you believe He is the Son of God or if you believe He is an Ascended Master; but He did live.  To me, He is my Savior and this time of year leads me to thoughts of His birth and death.  Starting this Sunday through Christmas, I will be posting religious poems, many in praise of my elder Brother and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth.

I was baptized a Catholic at birth.  I attended many Christian religious services of other faiths.  When I was 19, I chose to be baptized a Latter-Day Saint, more commonly known as Mormon.  Now?  Now I am on a spiritual path and choose spirituality over organized religions.  But I still believe in Jesus and His mission here on earth.  I also believe that the writings have been tampered with over the years, so I refuse to get into arguments about His life, His teachings, or His death.  If there is one thing I can say about Him, it is that His teachings are simple and embrace Love.

I hope you enjoy the poem today.  It is in honor of Jesus, my Brother and Savior.

Hell is not for Sinners

I have not posted for so long.  There are several reasons for this.  My old computer was slowly crashing.  Thank heavens it was slow.  I had time to back up my precious writings and poems.  Believe me, I checked and double checked.  My husband bought me another computer, because he knows I enjoy writing.  So, of course, there was the time I've spent learning my way around - and checking and checking and checking to make sure I hadn't lost one little piece of my works.

On top of that, I've been ill - again.  I caught a virus and was down in bed pretty much for 2 weeks.  But my mortal body wasn't ready to heal yet.  You see, I have Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS).  Many don't believe in this illness.  That's ok.  See, when it acts up, I can feel that virus in me.  I have often referred to it as 'the enemy within.'  So, if I get a simple virus going around, I'm not going to be down for a couple of weeks.  Nope.  More like 6 or 8 weeks before I begin to function again.

The poem I am  posting today came in a bitter moment a couple of years ago as my son and I watched one of the most loving cats pass over.  He had been ill and the vet gave him some medicine.  Around the clock, we watched our pet.  He was looking good and seemed to be getting better.  I went to check on him again, and I knew.  He had very little time left.  Not enough time to get him to a vet.  So my son and I sat with him and waited - for what seemed an eternity but was just a matter of minutes.  We could see his pain, his suffering.

Thinking of all that life throws at us, in bitterness, I wrote 'Hell is not for Sinners.'  This is a good time to post it.  You see, I was done a wrong recently.  I wrote something that was stolen from me.  I've never had that happen before.  I learned a life lesson.  Watch who you trust.  But, sadly, I will no longer support a cause that I have supported for years.
